Skill
Make decks with your own AI.
Already use Claude, ChatGPT or another AI? Give it this skill and it makes Franki decks for you, with quiz choices that make sense.
The skill
franki-deck
One file that teaches an AI the deck format, how to write good cards, and how to write wrong answers a quiz can use.
Or read it: SKILL.md · JSON Schema
How to use it
1. Give the skill to your AI
- Claude: in Settings → Capabilities → Skills, upload the .zip.
- Claude Code: unzip it into
~/.claude/skills/. - Any other AI: attach SKILL.md, or paste this link and ask it to follow it:
https://franki.wiki/skill/franki-deck/SKILL.md
2. Ask for a deck
For example: “Make me a Franki deck from these lecture notes”, or “Make a Franki deck of 50 Italian food words”. It writes a file ending in .franki.
3. Open it on your iPhone
Send the file to your iPhone with AirDrop, Messages, Mail or Files, and tap it. Or in Franki, tap + → Import → Choose File. Franki shows the deck first; tap Add to Franki.
An AI that can run code also gives a link to franki.wiki/open. Tap it on your iPhone and Franki opens with the deck, no file needed. The deck travels inside the link itself.
Or add Franki's connector
In Claude or ChatGPT, Franki can be a connector instead: ask for a deck and your AI hands you a link that opens it in Franki. Add this address, with no sign-in:
https://mcp.franki.wiki/mcp
- Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- ChatGPT: turn on developer mode in Settings, then add the address as a new connector, with no authentication.
Then ask, for example, “Make a Franki deck of 30 Spanish verbs”. The connector keeps nothing: the cards pass through it to become the link (privacy).
No AI of your own?
You don't need one. Franki makes cards for you: Generate writes them from your notes, a photo, a PDF or a web page with Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, for free, and writes their quiz choices too.
